FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is welded wire mesh used for?
Welded wire mesh can be used for chicken coops, rabbit enclosures, vegetable gardens, raised beds, tree guards, rodent barriers, animal protection, and general outdoor DIY projects.
What is the difference between galvanized and PVC-coated welded wire mesh?
Galvanized welded wire mesh has a metallic finish and a protective zinc layer that helps improve corrosion resistance. PVC-coated welded wire mesh has an additional exterior coating and a clean black appearance that blends naturally with gardens, landscaping, wooden frames, and backyard structures.
Should I choose 1/2-inch or 1/4-inch mesh?
A 1/2-inch square mesh is a versatile option for chicken coops, rabbit enclosures, garden fencing, and general animal protection. A 1/4-inch square mesh has smaller openings and is more suitable when a finer barrier is needed against smaller animals or pests.
Can Goldpeak welded wire mesh be used outdoors?
Yes. Goldpeak galvanized and PVC-coated welded wire mesh products are designed for outdoor applications. Actual service life may vary depending on climate, installation method, maintenance, soil contact, moisture, salt, chemicals, and other environmental conditions.
Will galvanized welded wire mesh rust?
The zinc coating helps protect the steel and delay corrosion, but no steel product is completely immune to rust under every condition. Cut edges, scratches, constant moisture, salt exposure, chemical exposure, and direct soil contact may affect service life.
Can welded wire mesh be cut?
Yes. Welded wire mesh can be cut using suitable wire cutters, aviation snips, or bolt cutters, depending on the wire diameter. Always wear protective gloves and eye protection because cut wire edges may be sharp.
How should welded wire mesh be installed?
The mesh can be secured to wood framing with suitable staples and washers or attached to metal posts using compatible ties, clips, or fasteners. The mesh should be properly tensioned, and enough fastening points should be used to reduce loose sections.
Can welded wire mesh be buried underground?
Welded wire mesh is sometimes buried around gardens, raised beds, and animal enclosures to help reduce digging by rodents and other animals. Direct soil contact and long-term moisture may shorten the life of coated steel products.
Is welded wire mesh the same as chicken wire?
No. Welded wire mesh is made from horizontal and vertical wires welded together to form square openings. Traditional chicken wire is generally woven into hexagonal openings and has a more flexible structure.
How do I choose the correct roll size?
Measure the total height and length of the installation area before ordering. Allow additional material for overlap, corners, doors, fastening, and installation adjustments.
Does the product arrive completely flat?
Welded wire mesh is shipped in roll form and may retain some curvature after unrolling. Laying it on a flat surface, gently reverse-rolling it, or securing it gradually during installation can help reduce the curve.
What should I do if my order arrives damaged?
Contact Goldpeak customer support as soon as possible. Include your order number and clear photographs of the packaging, shipping label, product, and visible damage. Keep all original packaging until the claim has been reviewed.
